Who makes Disciples?
Today we learn how the disciples were given the ability to speak all foreign languages - to speak in tongues - it was a miracle given by God's Holy Spirit to ensure they had the ability to go out and speak to all people in their own language and be understood - it was God announcing the time had come for the blessings of the new Covenant to begin and to spread the word of the Gospel. God gave humanity a chance to come to faith with no excuse of not understanding what was being said to them and to us because of the barrier of language. The disciples were in a race against time to bring as many people to faith before the second coming of the Lord. So by the Holy Spirit, under the new Covenant, the disciples and went out to speak and declare the Word of God. So the question is asked today, who makes disciples? We do. All Christians are meant to be involved in disciple making. We are all empowered by the Holy Spirit to get on with the job of disciple making. We need to be up front about our faith. Our faith can be personal but not private. We need to go out and speak of our faith to all we meet - at home, work or socially, when opportunities arise - even if they don't, make an opportunity to speak of your faith. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved if they have repented of their sins and turned to Christ - but they need to hear The Word of God and we are the carriers - Who makes disciples? - Us.
