The fruit of freedom
The last in our series on Freedom. We have all heard the saying "You reap what you sow". We have a choice - - do we sow to the flesh or sow to the Spirit? Because Jesus has been crucified we have been given freedom - we have been brought out of slavery into the Kingdom of God. We have been adopted by God as His children. He wants us to stand firm in this freedom. Paul does not want us to fall from this Grace. It is easy to think we can indulge our sinful nature so we need to be firm in the Scriptures and in living them out as Christ would have us live. The non-Christian does not have the Holy Spirit or the help of the Holy Spirit. God's Holy Spirit however works in the Christian to produce good fruit. We must help non-Christians and those who are struggling to find God and live His way. Some people read the Scriptures but do not live out their lives in the way those Scriptures teach. We must share each other's burdens and struggles. There is a plain connection between the type of seed we sow and what we reap. We have a choice - sowing to the flesh or sowing to the Spirit. Living by the Spirit enables us to to free, to start fighting sin. It will not free us from sin - we will always battle and struggle with sin - but it is worth the fight in the end when we enter God's Kingdom.
